NOte: this article was written someday on dec 2009.
what a day it was today, it was a day that i always dreamed of. the temperature, the cold breeze, and the lite sunlight at noon all made the day really perfect. it was an ideal weather that any nature loving guy would die to experience. there was hardly anything i could have changed to make this day more beautiful if given a chance to do so. on this day, our campus looked really beautiful, in fact it seamed to me that this campus is specially designed for such climate. the small trees around the campus, the migratory birds at the lake and the lake itself further added more beauty to this countryside.
perhaps if someone somewhere someday asks me to define perfect-ism, this day would be the answer. with this note, i want to thank the creator for such a wonderful day, that i could have asked for.

abt me
when many of ur friends write so many good things abt u in their testi, u start to ask urself " wow m i really that good". infact, the flattering thing is that some of the qualities that my friends wrote abt me are even unknown to me. one of the reason maybe because we are so much interested in knowing abt the good and bad things of others that we unintentionally fail to think abt ourself. for instance, in 2 out of my 3 interviews ( i failed in all 3), i had been asked this question "tell me abt urself", which should be the easiest question that any interviewer is ever going to ask, after all if we don't abt ourself who else will. ironically, this question came out to be the toughest of all for some of us, i had to ask to some of my friends who had already being asked this question in their interviews abt how to approach this question. while some suggested me to tell little bit abt my family background and hobbies, others suggested me not to mention abt my family background and instead say that "i am innovating person, i like to learn new things in new environment etc etc........ ...." ultimately, it was for me to decide what to say when i am asked "tell me abt urself". what i wanted to say from the above incident is that sometimes knowing abt urself can be one of the most confusing question of our life. ofcouse the question is meaningless for guys who seriously think and know abt themselves.
i want to thank all my friends who have written testi for me, guys thank you and thank you for seeing good things in me.
in my next article, i will write abt what i think abt myself.....

right now....
its being long time since i wrote my last blog. reason, i didnt feel like writing, to be honest i didnt have the motivation to write any more because of my placement situation, almost all my friends are placed and i am among the last few to be placed yet. i thought i would continue with my writing soon after i get placed. well, now i honestly dont see that happening anywhere. i have cried over it and tried to find someone to blame for my situation. at the end i could hardly find anyone but myself to blame for the situation.now, i came to conclusion that if i continue to cry and blame myself and just hope everything is going to be fine without any effort from my myside, the situation is not just going to be wrost but also m going to further hurt my future too. the moral of the story "enjoy ur life- when one door closes , another door opens up so keep trying, every dog has his day".
i have always fantasized abt what to do in my final sem at iitg. i used to say myself that i will do that, i will do this in my final sem. well its already 20 days in final sem and i have done none of those things that i fantasied about. the reason, all those dreams were dreamed holding into account that i would get job before the start of my final sem. now the question is that "should i stop enjoying my final sem just because i havent got job yet?" or "should i enjoy it anyway ?". its very easy to chose the later because it sounds optimistic and that's what heroes do in movies anyway. now if i look my life 10 years from now, i definitely see myself still doing what i want to do. from that time frame, if i reflect back my life today and find out that i did intentionally made my life a hell, well definitely i would regret. that's not something that i would like to see myself from that time frame, so thats the reason, i am going to chose what the desi or bedesi heroes in movies would have done i.e enjoy my life in way that i have always dreamed of..................

passion
how do you feel when u get sick? how efficient are you with your work when sick? i generally dont feel like doing anything even when exams are just a few days away when i get sick. now if tomorrow, you get some serious illness and some doctor later diagnosed you with some serious life threatening disease and tells that there is no cure to this disease and u r going to spent your whole life in bed. what are u going to do? r u going to just sleep in ur bed and curse GOD for giving u such a pathetic life or u going to stop regretting abt your condition and start looking at things that u can still do. i guess most of us are are going to choose the later than former.
the reason why m talking abt such condition is because m going to talk alittle bit abt a guy who inspite of experiencing such life is doing extraordinary things. m talking of Prof. Stephen Hawkings. like everyone else he was born normal and later on his 20's he was diagnosed with a disease called motor neuron, a life threatening disease that paralyzed most of his body organs for the rest of his life. but this was not enough to stop him from doing what wanted to do when being in good condition, he continued his research(his passion) and published numerous papers and even wrote a bestseller book "a brief history of time". when asked abt how does he feel abt his disability he says that he fells normal, he does n't think abt his conditions and abt things that he cann't do which are nt many.
so, now i start to wonder why do many of us find it difficult to find passion in our live even though we have every part of our body in good shape. why cannt we live a happy life, why are we unsatisfied, why do we keep thinking abt things that we cannt do rather than thinking abt things that we do. whats keeps us away from finding our passion. is it because we guys always look at others and try to follow their walked paths? why cant we look at ourselves and make our own paths? the answer is all within us.

effortless yet requires an effort
many times in our life we come across problems whose solution are so simple yet it requires lot of effort and time to finally find that simple solution.same was the case with me, for the last 6 days i was trying to figure out the problem behind my inability to convert a file to an oxt file , which ofcourse i was able to change in one of my friends comp(just need to rename the extension). so, i started to do all sorts of searching in net and tried to find if any software is required to do the change. however, most of the sites mentioned the same i.e zip together the .aff file and .dic file and then change the extension to .oxt, which i already did, and didnt serve the purpose.
so now i started to find fault with my computer, i thought maybe it's because of my computer, as only a month and a half ago i formatted my laptop with an pirated xp cd. maybe due to this my lapi might have lost some software that were required to make the change compatible. so i did sort of lose hope that my problem would ever get solved.
the next two days , i didnt try to touch the problem. today, i thought why dont i try it again in one of my friend's comp, and i tried and guess what it worked.i tried to do the same again in my lapi, still not working. then after few minutes i realized that i wasnt actually changing the extension in my lapi, i was just renaming the file i.e from file x to file x.oxt (what a foolish thing to do) as the extensions were hidden(this was the real problem). after little bit of searching, i was able to undo the hidden extensions(go to the folder, then tools, click view then untick the hide extensions of known file) and then the problem was solved. had i would have known the real problem(which i should have been as a computer science student), the problem would have never existed or solved in few minutes. such kind of problem can occur to best of us, but the moral to be learned is to be prepared for such and keep trying to figure out the REAL problem......

just a thought.....
well m excited this time abt going home, not just because i get some time to spend with my mom and dad, but because m going to spend this Diwali with my parents after a gap of five years. so i have already started planning abt what to do, how to do and etc etc. like some of u guys know my home town is in a place called kokrajhar (people do find it too difficult to remember, so they keep asking me every year).its abt some x kms frm ghy(i dont know even approximately), but 5 hrs by bus and 6 hrs by train. mostly i prefer going by bus than train not because its faster, but because i hate travelling by train,
why?
i hate travelling by train not because
a)it's crowded most of the time.
b)it's because its stops almost every station.
c)it's not very clean.
d)it's takes longer than bus to reach home.
e)all the above.
the reason, is that i fell guilty when i travel by train. every time i go to the station, i find children from slum areas nearby walking here and there and asking money from every person they crossed by. seeing these children and some just few months old sleeping at the station, makes me fell guilty every time i step at the station. i fell even more pathetic at not being able to do anything in spite of witnessing their condition. i remember the time when i was once a child, i used to say to myself that one day i will do something for these people. well the day is still to come...
sometimes i wonder how much one works hard to fulfill his dreams, the magnitude of pain he bears and the things he sacrifices just to come to a destined point in his life. for eg,the amount of hard work we guys do to come to IIT, to become a 10 pointer. why dont we guys also do the same in this direction. why do we guys need to keep pointing to the government when it comes to helping these section of the people. i know there is a huge difference in working to make his own life and working for other sections of people, the later as a whole becomes a political one. but still why dont we discuss and try some algorithms, instead of letting some great mahatma to come and solve it at one go(i doubt if it gona happen ever). why dont we try it iteration by iteration. i know its tough, its difficult and many obstacles to face, many barriers to overcome, and till we break all these constraints, i will continue to hate travelling through train......

My Friend' s GaL
its odd to write anything abt any of my friend's gf, but i guess its OK when ur friend itself comes and asked u to do so. though, i don't understand why he chose me. maybe he trusts me too much...so a week ago we met and he shared his story with me. now he wants me to share his story to the whole world(as if the whole world is waiting patiently for my next article). but he took my word to not to mention either his name or his gf's. so,this is how the story begins....
note:all names used here are fictional
once upon a time there was this romantic guy call say Prem. Prem, besides being romantic was shy too. i can recall from the school days once when Jenny asked for a pen to him, his hands were shivering giving away. he once told me that he had a crush on Jenny till class VII.
one fine day it was raining hard. it was already 9:15 am and he had to reach the school before 9:50 as our class starts by 10am(by the way we were in class VIII at that time). he and his brother were having a hard time finding a rickshaw. after walking for some distance, finally they saw a rickshaw, so he and his brother ran fast to catch it before some other guy takes it. when he reached there and was almost abt to get up, he heard a soft voice from behind "hey can i take this rickshaw, actually m kina late for the school". when he turn behind to say no, he was no more in this world, he was in a wonderland where he had found the angel of his life, from nowhere came the words "yes, ofcourse". so this is how our hero met his heroine for the first time.
a year past after the "Rain Day" and still a second meeting to be decided. he tried to find her everywhere but he couldnt find her anywhere. then one day, he went to his math teacher's house to talk for a tuition, there he notice something familiar, oh there she was, finally his search ended, he had found her. his teacher asked him to come from the next day and wonder what, he was in same batch as her, woh what a jack pot.....the LUCKY DAy....from this days onwards every night before going to the tuition, he used to plan abt how to approach her. each time he sees her he could hardly bring a word to her.this way days past and then months and then the 9th std. his 9th exams didnt go good, though nothing unusual in that but maths, the subject he used to do well even with less practice didn't go good. so in the 10 std, his tuition teacher put him in a batch which didn't had her(as she was good in studies). this upset him a bit, but not much though.that year he started to do those things that he never did in his previous years, he started take parts in all sports events(he was the house captain) and soon discovered that he was good in almost all the sports, and best at cricket. he even become sort of serious at studies too. but still every night when he slept, he used to think of her. every time he saw her on the road, his heart beat used to get doubled and his body get cold even on hot summer.
finally he completed his 10th broad exam, then she went to other city for higher studies. the feeling of not ever getting a chance to see her did make him feel sad, but he moved ahead, really ahead and today after 7 years he is sitting at CCD with his friends at IIM Bangalore discussing abt some case studies. by the way he graduated this year from IIT Roorkee. it amazes me very much when i analyze his life, his transition from a shye guy in school to guy handling a case studies at IIMB. well this is life, it all abt expecting the unexpected. but one thing is still the same to his school days, that is his still single, he hasn't talked to her since 10th. when i asked him what inspires him to aim higher and higher goals in life, he has just one answer- his love for the girl..........
